The Marina is a building from the series that can only be placed between land and water terrains.
In SimCity 2000 the Marina is one of the recreation buildings. It has a positive effect on residential growth and generally make the city a nicer place to live, with boats appearing near the Marina.
In SimCopter, one of the missions the helicopter pilot may receive is to rescue someone from a Marina boat accident before the boat sinks.
The Marina is a reward building in SimCity 4. It is considered both a Parks & Recreation building and a Water Transport building. This building also improves residential desirability. With SimCity 4: Rush Hour included, this building provides the player with six drivable watercraft: Cigar Boat, Tug Boat, Motor Boat, Speed Boat, Fishing Boat, and Yacht.
