The Hydro Dam is a power plant building in SimCity 2000. It is relatively cheap to build and is a solid source of power with zero pollution. However, it can only be placed at waterfalls and produce little power per dam and thus require a large amount of money when bought in bulk.
As they are one of only two plants not to disintegrate after 50 years (the other being wind turbines) they are a good investment for people who have the money to buy a multitude of them.
Hydro dams can be exploited by creating waterfalls from scratch. The player can landscape a hill and place water on it, both for low costs. This also scales perfectly; the player can add new dams as they need them. Hydro dams and the waterfalls on which they are built were both removed in SimCity 3000.
